Reasons To Consider No Contract Cell Phones

There is a whole range of reasons why you might want to consider no contract cell phones when making your next purchase or when you current contract is coming towards the end of its existing contract.

A no contract cell phone is a lot more flexible than taking out a long contract. It is difficult to predict what life will throw at you one year or eighteen months down the line and having the ability to change your spending both up and down to fit your needs is not something available with a conventional plan. With all the major mobile companies now offering month to month plans, where you can get all the benefits of a contract without being tied into it for more than a month at a time this gives you a lot of flexibility!

The major down side to not having a contract is that you are unlikely to receive a large discount on a new state of the art cell phone, often hundreds of dollars. The reason for this is because the cell phone companies make back the majority of the money from the discount from the monthly cost of the contract and the length of the contract. If you are not concerned with having the latest smart phone, or have the money now to pay out of pocket but don't want to be tied into a contract then a no contract cell phone is certainly for you.

No contract cell phones are great for parents who want to control and limit the amount of time and cost their children incur using their phones. With top up cards, once you run out of the purchased amount the phone will simply not allow you to make further outbound non emergency (911) calls. You are unable to continue building up charges like you can with a standard contract where you will be hit with a larger bill at the end of the month, especially with premium rate phone numbers that can easily end up costing you hundreds of dollars if dialed in error, but with a no contract cell phone you will never be able to pay more than the amount you have pre loaded onto your phone.

If you are concerned about coverage with no contract cell phones, one of the safer options is to go with one of the larger networks, such as AT&T or Verizon, who both have very good coverage nationwide, and prepaid phone users access the same 3G and phone network as contracted members, so your coverage and signal quality will be the same.
